Introducing Eventful North: Bringing Curious People Together Across the North East

There are so many interesting people, places, ideas and stories across the North East. Eventful North is a new local events initiative with the aim of bringing people together through interesting, accessible and affordable experiences.

The idea behind Eventful North is to create a community for people around events where critical thinking is encouraged, and there are opportunities to connect with different types of people from different backgrounds while learning or trying something new.

It is also about supporting local creatives, writers, speakers, artists, organisations and venues. There is a huge amount of talent in the North East, and Eventful North wants to help create more opportunities for people to share what they do.

The first Eventful North event
The first event is a creative writing evening with North East author Helen Aitchison.

Taking place at the Exchange 1856 in North Shields on September 10th, the workshop will give participants the opportunity to explore creative writing in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Tickets include a drink, and there will be an opportunity at the end to help shape the programme of future events.

You don’t need to be a writer as the session is intended for anyone interested in creativity, storytelling or trying something different.

Creative activities can also have benefits beyond producing something to put on paper. Writing can provide a way to explore ideas, experiences and imagination, while creative activities benefit mental health and can give people a reason to slow down, concentrate and connect with others.

What is next?

The first event is hopefully just beginning.
Future Eventful North events could cover everything from science and history to literature, art, culture, discussion and practical workshops. The aim is to have a broad range of topics that people can explore.
